At 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, a two vehicle, non-injury collision occurred in the 1600 block of Navajo Blvd. The vehicles involved were a gray 2017 Chevy Malibu driven by Mia Findorff, 25, of Holbrook and a semi-truck driven by Robert Barnes, 60, of Rio Rancho, N.M. According to the report, Findorff was driving north on Navajo Blvd. in the outside lane when she was struck by the semi-truck, which was also traveling north on the inside lane and swerved into her lane due to another semi that turned from a private drive from the west to go south and the front went into the northbound lane in the turn. No citation was noted.
At 3:41 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, a two-vehicle collision with injuries occurred on West Hopi Drive and North 5th Avenue. The vehicles involved were a gold 2006 Toyota 4Runner pulling a small travel trailer driven by Timothy Allen, 75, of Tucson and silver Jeep driven by Reyna Ledesma, 23, of Buckeye. According to the report, Allen was traveling west on West Hopi Drive and realized he drove past the location he meant to go to and attempted to make a left- turn from the outside lane to make a U-turn in the roadway. Ledesma was traveling west on the inside lane of West Hopi Drive and was distracted looking at a map and when she looked up she realized she would be unable to avoid a collision with the Toyota, striking the rear driver’s side of the vehicle. Ledesma was injured in the collision and was transported to Little Colorado Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. The vehicles were towed from the scene and Allen was cited for failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to avoid a collision. A citation was also issue to Ledesma for driving on a suspended license, displaying a suspended plate and failure to avoid a collision.
