At 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, a single vehicle hit and run collision occurred at Hatch’s Quick Stop, located at 2310 Navajo Blvd. The vehicle involved was a black Ford driven by a 17-year-old Holbrook boy. According to the report, an employee of Hatch’s Quick Stop reported that a vehicle had driven into the store’s wall, damaging the wall and breaking a window and then drove off. When the officer arrived, he observed a black Ford parked in the alleyway behind Studio 66, located at 2226 Navajo Blvd. The vehicle was heavily damaged with the keys in the ignition, but the driver had fled the scene. An Arizona Public Service utility pole was broken in half with the top half hanging over the truck. Several power lines were hanging low, on the ground and wrapped around the rear driver side tire. It was also discovered that a second utility pole had been damaged. The boy was issued a juvenile referral for hit and run, reckless driving, and three counts of criminal damage.
