The 65th Annual Hashknife Pony Express Ride left without a hitch last Wednesday morning from the Holbrook Post Office. The days before the ride festivities included a parade, the unveiling of the Hashknife Pony Express Monument, the swearing-in of the riders and support staff who would be transporting the US mail, followed by a dinner that evening and a hearty breakfast provided by the Holbrook Senior Citizens Center the morning of the ride. Also present at the events were Jeff Kimm, with Congressman District 2 Eli Crane’s office who dedicated the Hashknife monument.Michael J. Elston, Secretary of the Board of Governors, United States Postal Service swore in the Hashknife riders and members prior to the ride. A video featuring the riders, the unveiling of the monument and events prior to the ride can be viewed on The Farm on Route 66 Youtube Channel: They Were My Age and Died. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVkMdprtzlA.
