Gloria Ono Gloria Ono was born in Flagstaff on May 3, 1948. She lived in Flagstaff, until the age of eight when the family moved to Winslow. Gloria attended Winslow schools until 1964. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Desert View Cemetery. Gloria worked as a waitress for many years at Gabrielle’s Pancake House, and the Townhouse Restaurant. She later worked at Walmart for a number of years. She went to Northland Pioneer College and received some credentials in education and was employed by the Winslow Unified School District. After having to take some time off for medical issues, she entered the work force once again. She went to work at the Winslow Head Start. She enjoyed this as she was always fond of children and the children loved her. She had to retire due to an injury received while attending a meeting. Gloria enjoyed teaching and coordinating CCD for many years. Attending church was very important to her. She was saddened when she could no longer attend as her health deteriorated and then due to the COVID-19. Gloria had a love for God first, her children, people and life. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children. If she had a barbeque in the back yard she would be upset if transients walked by and no one would feed them. Gloria is survived by her son, Richard (Lucinda) Ono; daughters, Donna (Stephen) Sanchez, Rita (Ben) Montiel and Dolores (Joe) Ochoa; Mary Sanchez, her best friend and caregiver; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Freddy Schultz and Tito Sanchez; sisters Catherine Hernandez and Jennifer Jaramillo; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Andrea Sanchez and sister Herlinda Smith. Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow handled the arrangements.
