Pat Hoyt

Georgia Patricia Hoyt, 84, in the comfort of her home with her family and close friends, passed from this life on earth. She had been fighting for every breath for a while but lost the battle on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, as her daughter Carolyn Young and son Kenneth Lites held her in their arms as she took her final breath. Thank you, Jesus Christ, for her peaceful journey through gates of heaven. She is now forever united with friends and family for eternity.

In her memory, a Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Mesa Italiana Restaurant, Grill and Sports Bar, 2318 Navajo Blvd. in Holbrook.

She was born May 17, 1933, in Dallas, Texas, to Patrydean and George N. Ware.

Pat was raised in Mt. Vernon, Texas, in a country, farm style environment. She graduated from high school in 1950 with emphasis in accounting.

She moved to Arizona 1961, where she fell in love with the people and the desert. She enjoyed exploring caves, old mines, the tops of plateaus and off-roading.

In 1964, Woods Canyon and Wickenburg’s Vulgar Gold mine was her camping, fishing and hunting area for many years. She loved the water, swimming, boating and fishing. Her biggest catch was an 8’6”, 101-lb. sailfish off of the coast of Mazatlan, Mexico. She traveled to numerous countries abroad.

A designer and builder, Pat built luxurious homes to live in, including one featured in Arizona Living in 1975.

She created, owned and operated numerous businesses in Arizona. She moved to Holbrook in 1989, where she purchased the Western Holiday Motel. She later sold that and bought the Mesa Grande, now the Mesa Italiana Restaurant and Mesa Grill and Sports Bar.

Pat loved life and all it had to offer. She loved people, never judged them and trusted most of them. She will be missed by her family and her many, many friends.

She had several great loves in her live. She married Charles A. Lites, who is now deceased, and they had two children, Carolyn Sue Lites and Kenneth Wayne Lites. She later married John W. Harrington, now deceased, the father of Jack Harrington. She married Russell Hoyt, deceased, who had five children, Marianne Murphy, Pam Swisher, Ron Hoyt, Jeff Hoyt and the late Marsha Whipple. She married Ralph Lewis, now deceased, the father of Chris Lewis.

Survivors include her children, Carolyn Sue Young and Kenneth Wayne Lites; and her grandchildren, Chemene Haws and Stephen Zimbro.
