Taylor Town Hall

“We have a large piece of concrete not being used for hardly anything,” Taylor Councilman Jason Brubaker advised his fellow council members at their April 7 meeting.

The town recently used a portion of its Community Development Block Grant funds to increase the size of a cement pad at Freeman Park to 60’x110’, and Brubaker suggested it be used as a sports court. He felt there were two problems with it, though, when it is wet, it is slippery, and there are no markings on the court.

The councilman suggested they purchase an interlocking surface that would have different colors for markings for such games as soccer, tennis and pickleball.

He has done some research and found a surface that would cost the town approximately $25,000 to cover the court, and it comes in colors so the court could be marked. He provided samples for the council to consider.

After discussion, Councilman Dave Smith moved to approve the purchase, but it was not on the agenda as an action item. It will be placed on the agenda of the May 5 meeting.
