With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Evette Marie Gonzalez on Sept. 9, 2025, who left us far too soon at the age of 42. She was born to Sandra Cestelos and Edward Gonzalez in Van Nuys, Calif., on July 13, 1983. She was surrounded by the people she loved and who loved her dearly.
Evette was a bright light in every life she touched, kind, loving and fiercely protective. This reflected her career as a CNA, taking care of the elderly.
Evette’s greatest joy was her family. She devoted herself fully to her daughter, Hailey Monique “Mo” Black, and her beloved granddaughters, Malia and Amoura.
She is survived by her sisters, Corrina Tielman, Justine Garcia, Jennifer Cox, and Jolin Lucas; brothers, Junior Lopez, Tim Lewis and Edward Nathan Gonzalez; stepmother, Susan Gonzalez; and significant other, Steven Viramontes. Also, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evette is preceded in death by her father, Edward Gonzalez, whom she loved with all her heart; mother, Sandra Cestelos; grandmothers, Angela Gonzalez and Josephine Garcia; grandfathers, Ralph Gonzalez and Henry “Waco” Garcia; and uncles, Danny Gonzalez and Ralph Gonzalez Jr.
