He was a lifelong resident of Winslow, graduating from Winslow High in 1993. Growing up he was active in all sports playing soccer, baseball, wrestling and football, always being a fierce competitor. Dale’s first love was getting out in the country to enjoy all aspects of hunting and fishing, learning from his dad and uncle, Rich the traditions handed down to him. He passed on these traditions to his children as soon as they could walk. Dale cherished every moment of his coyote hunts, deer and elk camps, fishing trips and just being out in God’s country with family and friends. After high school, Dale attended Central Arizona College learning the trades of heavy equipment operation and welding. While at CAC he rode saddle broncs for the school rodeo team and was proud of his time there and the lifelong friends he made. On July 02, 1994, Dale started his railroad career as a switchman for the A.T.&S.F. Railroad joining the generations before him continuously since 1911; a fact he was proud of. Dale proudly served his union holding the position of legislative representative and other positions when called to serve. Dale was briefly married to Doreen Tafoya and this union brought Morgan Rae Thomas, the apple of her father’s eye and his first hunting partner. Dale was joined in matrimony to Lorey Martinez in 2004. This union brought their first son, Seamus Gage Thomas followed by Connor Quinn Thomas. On Aug. 27, 2021, Dale was blessed with the arrival of Delta Rae Thomas, his granddaughter and new apple of his eye. Dale was always active in his children’s sports endeavors coaching soccer, softball, baseball, football and wrestling. Dale followed in his Grandpa Thomas’ footsteps, becoming president of Winslow Little League, also serving on its board of directors. Dale loved God, his family and country. Always ready to step up and help anyone at any time.
