As of Dec. 18, the Navajo County Public Health Services reports that there have been 10,116 COVID-19 cases reported in Navajo County. Last week the Little Colorado Medical Center reported an average of 12 COVID-positive cases in its Emergency Department each day. The hospital provided inpatient care to an average of nine COVID-positive patients in its medical-surgical unit. There was an average of three COVID-positive patients transported to other Arizona hospitals. Daily COVID testing provided by LCMC to the community, averaged 41 tests per day, with approximately 15 percent positive results. As of Dec. 18, Navajo County Public Health nurses were monitoring 1,146 active COVID cases off-tribal lands. To put that into perspective, nurses were monitoring 478 active cases just 30 days ago and only 280 active cases the month before that in October. Residents are being asked to come together to do what you can to help others around you a little safer. Decrease the spread of the virus by choosing to wear a simple face covering, washing your hands frequently and avoiding large gatherings of people.
