At approximately 8:28 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 25, Navajo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a structure fire in the 5000 block of Gardenia Street in Clay Springs. According to the report, Charles Ryan Kizzar, 50, of Clay Springs, and the victim, Julie Palmer, 45, had an argument before Kizzar lit a firework and dropped it on the floor of the home. Palmer stated she had a matter of seconds to grab her animals and exit the home before she was unable to leave due to flames. Immediately after the fire had started, Kizzar fled the scene on foot. Deputies located Kizzar at a nearby residence and arrested him for arson of an occupied structure. The structure was a complete loss however, there were no reports of injuries caused by this fire. Kizzar was booked into the Navajo County Jail.
