Clara “Sue” Farr Chidester, 71, dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister, peacefully passed on from this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at her home in Orem, Utah, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock this morning (Aug. 10) at the LDS Chapel at 155 W. 1600 South in Orem, with a viewing at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral at the Orem City Cemetery, located at 1520 N. 800 East. Sue was born on June 30, 1941, in Farmington, N.M., to Z. Philip and Frankie Farr. Although she was raised in New Mexico and Arizona, she lived most of her life in Utah. She married Curtis R. Solomon on March 3, 1960, in the LDS Mesa Temple. Together, they were the proud par-ents of six children, Mike Solomon (Kelli), Joe Solomon (Elena), Charlie Solomon (Patricia), Mark Solomon, Susan Fausett (Chris) and Julie Muncy (Bruce). Sue was also a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Sue and Curtis later divorced. Sue was married to Kent Chidester on Sept. 3, 1999. She had many talents, which she enjoyed sharing with all who knew her. As an accomplished self-taught pianist, she accompanied the Mendelssohn Choir for three years and the Utah Valley Good Time Singers for 27 years. She served as ward organist for nearly 30 years, and enjoyed singing along as she played the hymns. She loved teaching piano to young kids and was a big hit whenever she played at family gatherings. Sue was an Avon representative for 30 years and was a multiple-time recipient of the prestigious President’s Club Award, as well as the Honor Society Award. She loved her children, grandchildren, flowers and the Christmas season. She was preceded in death by her father, Phil; and two grandchildren, Anna and Geoffrey Solomon. Berg Mortuary of Orem was in charge of the arrangements.
