On April 12, Winslow police officers responded to the 300 block of West Second Street where a residential burglary and auto theft were reported. The vehicle was recovered later that morning and Robert Jacob Naranjo, 28, was found to be the primary suspect. The following day Naranjo was located in the 900 block of North Alfred, arrested and booked into the Navajo County Jail on charges of burglary and unlawful use of a means of transportation. Naranjo is also the primary suspect in the burglary of the Winslow Unified School District maintenance shop on April 13. During the burglary, a maintenance truck was stolen and recovered in Winslow later that morning. Additional charges were filed against Naranjo, who is being held on a $50,000 bond. The Winslow Police Department is still investigating numerous other burglaries in the area. Upon receipt of the crime lab results on evidence processed from earlier reported burglaries it is anticipated that additional charges will be filed against Naranjo. WPD officials thank the citizens of Winslow for their support and cooperation in working together to reduce criminal activity in the community.
