A 12-year-old boy that was arrested in Navajo County and transported to the Florence Juvenile Detention Center has allegedly fallen victim to abuse by another boy at the facility. According to Navajo County Attorney Brad Carlyon, the county was notified of the incident by Florence Police Department. The incident occurred shortly after the boy was admitted into the facility and no specifics were provided to Carlyon on what physical contact occurred but it was indicated that it might have been of a sexual nature. The boy was arrested on Aug. 13 for what law enforcement called a “credible threat” against the Show Low Junior High School and was transported to Florence later that week. The boy, a seventh grader at the school, was charged with threatening and intimidating, and interfering with an educational institution. Carlyon stated that the boy is no longer at the facility but at a residence in Maricopa with an ankle monitor. The Pinal County Attorney’s Office is handling the case.
