On Tuesday, Winslow Mayor Robin Boyd presented Arizona Dirt shirts to General Mark Toy and Colonel Kim Colloton of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for their support of the Winslow Levee Project. According to City Manager Steve Pauken, the levee is in the midst of a feasibility study to determine how best to rebuild it. The study team will move to the design phase next year and hopefully to construction in the next five years. When finished, about half of Winslow and the surrounding area will be freed from the high cost of flood insurance premiums.
