The Navajo County University of Arizona Cooperative Extension is again challenging Navajo County to get moving by joining people across the state in the Walk Across Arizona program for the sixth year in a row. The Walk Across Arizona program is a friendly competition that tracks the number of miles walked in Navajo County. This eight-week program is designed for teams of up to 10 people, and begins on Wednesday, April 1. The miles are logged by individual members and recorded on the Walk Across Arizona website. Each participant’s $10 registration fee will make them eligible for a prize drawing. A $15 fee will include a T-shirt or a pedometer, if requested. Walk Across Arizona challenges youth, families and individuals to start walking to promote healthy active living. Walking reduces risks for diabetes, heart disease, obesity and chronic health problems. Walk Across Arizona is a fun way to get motivated to stay healthy by walking. Join with other people across the state by registering at http://cals.arizona.edu/walkacrossaz or by calling the Navajo County University of Arizona Cooperative Extension office at (928) 524-6271.
