Alex Begay Sr. Alex Begay Sr., 64, born in Winslow on Aug. 15, 1956, entered into rest on Jan. 9, 2021, in Mesa. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, at Desert View Cemetery. He was a silversmith. Alex was kind, loving and humble. He was a good husband, father, grandpa, son, brother and uncle. He always had a smile on his face, loved to cook and loved being around his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Segina-Begay; sons, Alex Begay Jr. and Jonathan Begay; daughter, Melissa Begaye-Lester; sisters, Marilyn Smith and Helen Begay; brothers, Dale Begay and Alfred Begay; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily and Milton Begay; sister, Elisa Yazzie; and brother David Gishie. Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow handled the arrangements.
