A repaving project will soon be getting underway on Hopi Drive, a major thoroughfare in Holbrook, and will cause traffic restrictions for the duration of the week-long project.
Beginning Monday, May 14, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will repave 1.3 miles of Hopi Drive between the Interstate 40 interchange at the west end of town and the intersection of Navajo Blvd.
ADOT community relations officer Rod Wigman said the project, at the request of the City of Holbrook, will operate 24 hours a day to speed the completion timeframe and minimize impact on residents, businesses and travelers. ADOT expects the project to be finished Saturday, May 19.
Traffic lanes will be narrowed and the speed limit reduced through the work zone. Monday night and Tuesday, the I-40 interchange at the west end of Holbrook will be closed and traffic will be diverted to the Navajo Blvd. exit.
