The Lady Lobos went just 1-2 in what may have been their final three games of the basketball season.

Last week started on a good note, with Snowflake taking a 67-61 overtime win from Joseph City, but on Thursday the Lady Lobos fell at home to Safford in a close game, then dropped a two-point contest to Blue Ridge at home on Friday.

Tuesday’s game at Joseph City was close throughout, with the Lady Lobos turning a two-point first quarter deficit into a three-point halftime lead. After forcing overtime, they outscored the Lady Cats 13-7 in the extra four minutes to get the win.

Lisha Titus had a big game, scoring 24 points. Tara Nezzie added 17; Brylee Coplan, 12; Devrie Woodside, 6; Tandis Yellowhair, 4; Katie Larson and Britlee Merrell, 2 each. The Lady Lobos made 16 of 23 free throws, and had 19 steals and only 14 turnovers.

Playing at home on Thursday, the Lady Lobos hosted highly ranked Safford and pushed the Lady Bulldogs to the limit before coming up short, 49-45. Safford led by 13 at the break, but in the second half Snowflake battled back with the help of a strong fourth period. Just some missed shots in the closing moments of the game kept the Lady Lobos from pulling the upset.

Titus led the team with 11. Larson, Yellowhair and Nezzie each hit for 8 points. Mattie Scott and Woodside added 5 each. The team made eight of 15 free throws and had 18 steals, but committed 16 turnovers.

Friday’s home game with Blue Ridge was also close all the way, but the Lady Lobos came out on the wrong side of a 54-52 final score.

Snowflake ends the regular season with an overall mark of 12-18. The Lady Lobos headed into this week’s action ranked 28th in power points and will need to rely on the outcome of other sectional games to push them into the top 24 or above. If that doesn’t happen, their season will have come to a close.
