For the first time in several years, the Joseph City Wildcats ventured into St. Michael and came away with a convincing win, taking down the Cardinals 73-33 on Thursday night.

“I believe this is the first time as either a player or a coach that the Wildcats have won a game at St. Michael. It is such a difficult place to play in, but our guys did a good job against a team that is really struggling this year. We moved the ball well and made 10 of our 14 three-point shot attempts which was huge for us,” said Coach Eric Miller.

The Wildcats surged in front by 13 points in the opening eight minutes and expanded that margin to 15 by the half. If St. Michael had any thoughts of coming back, the Wildcats ended that in the third quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 21-3 to take a commanding lead.

After playing at Holbrook on Tuesday, Joseph City will be at home this weekend to welcome in Cibecue on Friday, Jan. 13, and rival Mogollon the following night. Heading into this week’s action the Wildcats were 4-4 in power point games and ranked 15th in Section 3 of Division IV.
