Jon Bokker’s fifth grade class won the overall title in Tate’s Drive Out Hunger food drive at Hulet Elementary School in Holbrook this week. Classmates (from left) Kaylee Bowman, Betty Gasaway, Mariah Chiquito and Brady Buckley flank one of the boxes of nonperishable food that students contributed during the food drive, which began in October. Tate’s Auto Center picked up the students’ donations before Thanksgiving to provide food to needy families. Students then refilled their classes’ donation box for a second round of giving for the Christmas holiday. In all, Bokker’s class gathered 228 food items. Tate’s is sponsoring a pizza party for the class with the most donations in each grade level.
