Holbrook fell to 1-6 last Friday night, losing a non-conference football game to St. Johns by a final of 42-6.
Through the first half the game was competitive, as the Redskins built a 13-0 lead heading into the second quarter. Midway through the period Holbrook cut into that lead with a scoring run by Torrian Epps. From that point on, the game belonged to the visitors.
In the second half, St. Johns showed why its football team is rich in tradition, running off 29 unanswered points to get the big win and move their overall Division V record to 4-3, with all three losses coming against Division IV’s Blue Ridge, Show Low and Snowflake.
This week the Redskins host Canyon State in another game they are expected to win.
Holbrook is currently ranked 24th among the 31 teams in division IV. The Roadrunners have a bye week and will spend the week off preparing to host Chinle for Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 21. The Wildcats are ranked 15th with a winning record of 4-3. Holbrook’s final week of the season will feature a trip to Eagar on Friday, Oct. 28, to face Round Valley in the dome.
