Thirty-three Catholic youth from the Diocese of Colorado Springs traveled to Holbrook last week for a three-day community service project, including (left to right) MJ Dressman, 15, Connor Scroggins, 15, Emily Wion, 15, and Samantha Anderson, 13, who are painting a gate to the Holbrook Cemetery. They worked with other youth to paint structures, weed, and help with landscaping projects in the cemetery and city parks, and also to clean up yards and make minor repairs at the homes of Catholic parishioners in town. The youth, who wear the theme “Others Before Self” on their T-shirts, paid $75 each to participate in the annual service trip. City Manager Ray Alley commended the youth group and their six leaders for the amount of work they accomplished for the benefit of the community.
