Holbrook High School, Holbrook Junior High School and Hulet Elementary School were locked down briefly Wednesday morning as a precautionary measure following a report of a suspicious man in the area.

Superintendent Robbie Koerperich explained that there was no direct or implied threat, but the lockdowns were put in place as a precaution.

“That’s what we do when we get a report of suspicious behavior,” Koerperich said. “We can’t wait until something happens to begin to protect our children.”

The action stemmed from the report of a suspicious man in a trench coat walking near the high school. Holbrook police officers located the man and ascertained that there was no threat.

All three schools lifted the lockdown before the regular school day was scheduled to begin. During the lockdown, students arriving at school were immediately ushered into buildings and kept inside until after police made contact with the man.
