Facing Show Low on Saturday afternoon, the Lobos needed a win to keep their season alive. A third place finish would have guaranteed them a spot in the final 16 this weekend, but they were unable to hold onto a lead they built with solid play early in the game and took the 15-9, season ending loss.
Snowflake led 6-3 through three innings, but in the bottom of the fourth Show Low caught and passed the Lobos with five runs. The Cougars added seven in the fifth, leaving the Lobos with too big of a hill to climb to extend their season.
Tanner worked 32/3 innings, giving up six runs, five earned, on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Adams pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up five runs, four earned, on one hit with two walks. Yellowhair pitched two innings, giving up four runs, only one earned, on one hit with three strikeouts and a walk.
At the plate, Hancock went zero for two, but reached on an error, had two RBIs and scored once. Yellowhair was one for four with an RBI and scored once. Tanner went two for three with two doubles, two RBIs and one sacrifice. Montejano was two for four and scored twice. Devin Mcneil was two for two. Nate Kelley went one for four. Petersen was one for three with a stolen base and scored twice. Pinkley went two for three and scored once.
The Lobos end the season with an overall mark of 10-18. They went 4-6 in East Region play.
