Holbrook High School freshman MaKenna Romo (center) is congratulated by Masons Bill Jeffers, Dick Young and Mike Sample on her first-place win at the state level in the Arizona Masons Support Public Education essay contest. MaKenna received recognition from the Holbrook School District Governing Board and a $100 prize from the Masons for her essay, “Media: How They Influence You.” Students in the Holbrook district fared exceptionally well at the statewide level of the contest, bringing home nine of the 33 awards. A $400 classroom grant was also awarded to Anne Johnson, a language arts teacher at Holbrook Junior High School.
