Snowflake’s Lady Lobos wrapped up the regular season with an impressive 63-39 road win at the Pavillon in Ganado last Thursday night. The Lady Hornets have struggled all season, winning just one game, and they gave the Lady Lobos little resistance as they picked up their 19th win of the season.

Snowflake led by just three at the end of the first period, but extended that cushion to 10 at the half. In the third and fourth quarters, they increased their margin as well.

Natalie Elkins led the way with 19 points. Reagan Godfrey added 18, Alex Merrell and Tara Nezzie had 7 each, Lisha Titus, 5, Devrie Woodside, 4, and Tiffany Zabala hit one three-point shot.

The Lady Lobos finished the regular season with an overall record of 19-6 and have won 13 games in a row heading into the region tournament.

They are the top seeded team in the 3A East Region, having won all their region contests. As the top seed they have a bye in the first round of the regional tournament this week, and will face either Payson or Show Low in the second round on Friday, Feb. 11, at Blue Ridge High School in Lakeside.

Alchesay finished as the second seed followed by Round Valley, Payson, Show Low and Blue Ridge. The East region will most likely get just three teams into the final 16-team field of the state tournament. Snowflake, Alchesay and Round Valley are in, and the only way a fourth team would join them would be for them to place at least third in the region tournament.

The Lady Lobos secured the eighth seed in the power point rankings and will most likely host Coolidge in the opening round of the state tournament next week.
