Holbrook’s boys’ soccer team has hit a tough stretch, with their sixth straight loss coming last week.
Hosting Round Valley on Tuesday afternoon, the Birds played well in the first half but fatigue took over in the second and Round Valley pulled away for a 7-2 win.
Saturday morning, top-ranked Blue Ridge visited Roadrunner Stadium and was simply too much for a Holbrook team playing with just two subs. The Yellowjackets ended the game under the mercy rule with a 9-1 victory.
With two losses, Holbrook’s regular season record drops to 2-7-1. They have just two matches left in the season, with both coming after their fall break next week. On Oct. 20, the team will host Show Low, then travel to Snowflake for their season finale on the 22nd.
The Lady Roadrunners are winless in the regular season, with just two goals scored. The team fell twice at home last week. Tuesday night, Round Valley shut them out 7-0. The following day, Rachel Pusher scored Holbrook’s only goal in a 1-9 home-field loss to second-ranked Northland Prep.
The team has just one game left on the docket. Following fall break next week, they will wrap things up at Show Low on Oct. 20.
Holbrook is 1-13 overall, with that lone win coming in a tournament over Winslow. They are 0-11 in regular season contests.
