Over the weekend, they competed in the Show Low Tournament and split two matches on Friday. They fell to Round Valley in the first game 6-3, but bounced back in the afternoon, defeating Winslow 4-2.

The Birds returned to Show Low on Saturday and went 0-2, losing to Benson 1-8, then falling to Blue Ridge 1-3. Sebastian Hernandez and Jack Carbonneau scored Holbrook’s goals.

The team has a chance to build momentum this week with a regular-season match at Blue Ridge on Tuesday, followed by competition at the TURF Wars tournament hosted by Round Valley this weekend.

The Ladies are scheduled to face Chino Valley and Blue Ridge on Friday, then take on St. Johns on Saturday before playing one final bracket game later that day.

Next week, the Lady Birds will have a week off from game action before returning to the field on Sept. 30, when they travel to Payson to face the Longhorns.
