Snowflake improved to 2-0 on Sept. 4, with a 33-14 road win at ALA West Foothills. The Lobos scored twice in the first quarter, and once in the second. They added 2 more scores in the third. ALA scored once in the second and again in the fourth quarter once the game was out of hand.

Filling in for injured Jacob LaDuke, sophomore Maverick Greer was more than up to the challenge. The youngster completed 12 of his 15 pass attempts for 133 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed 4 times, gaining 20 yards.

Brenner Greer was the workhorse once again, toting the ball 20 times, racking up 177 yards with a touchdown. Otto Mills rushed 5 times for 45 yards. Beck Johnson gained 16 yards on 4 short runs.

Colter Willis was Greer’s favorite target with 6 receptions for 51 yards and a score. Nash Reidhead had 2 catches for 61 yards, with both going for touchdowns, including a 57-yard catch-and-run. Mason Raban caught 2 for 17 yards with a touchdown. Ryder Williams had one 6-yard reception.

McCoy Norton was 3 for 4 on his PAT kicks.

Snowflake’s defense was solid, holding the Guardians to just 176 yards of total offense, while the Lobos tallied 391 total yards.

On Sept. 11, Snowflake hosts Bradshaw Mountain. Both teams are 2-0 through the first two weeks, with the Bears having defeated Arcadia and Independence by a combined 77-14 in total points. The Lobos have outscored their two opponents 70-21 through two weeks.

Last season, this game was a nail-biter, going down to the end before Snowflake won 16-13. That game was on the road. Friday night, the two meet at Lobo Stadium, which may be enough of an edge for Snowflake to move to 3-0.
