Gaven Frank “Buster” Martinez passed away on July 2, 2026, at the age of 75. Buster was born on Dec. 10, 1950, in Holbrook, to Gavin and Sally Martinez. He attended Holbrook High School and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. He was commander of the American Legion, Post 37.
He is survived by his sisters, Eileen Bryan, Marlene Pacheco; brother, David Martinez ( Debbie); children, Sandra Oberriter (Mark), Sheri Martinez, Ron Martinez (Sonia) and Timothy Martinez (Fantasy); and by his beloved grandchildren, Jared Martinez, Alaya Vizcaya (Daniel), Marcus Oberriter, Gabriel Martinez, Gavino Martinez, Angelo Martinez, Orlando Martinez, Ron Martinez Jr., Elijah Ollarsaba, Orlando Ollarsaba, Isayah Martinez, Felicity Martinez, Constance Martinez, Cayleigha Kennedy, Auhnalisia Martinez and Azaria Martinez; and two great-grandchildren, Naomi Vizcaya and Elias Martinez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Gavin Martinez; his brother, Ricky Martinez; his baby sister, Eileen Martinez; and his beloved grandson, Gavino Martinez.
A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. and Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
July 18, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, following a military burial will be held at Holbrook cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at the American Legion.
