The Lady Lobos had a long stretch between their first and second round Copper tournament wins over Pusch Ridge and Page on Feb. 10 and 12, respectively. They returned to the court on Saturday night without having lost a step with a 56-41 win over fourth-seeded Valley Christian in a semifinal game played at Winslow High School.

Snowflake controlled the game from the onset, keeping the Trojans 3-point shooting guards to a minimum output with their tough man defense. Snowflake, as they have had for most of the season, just had too many weapons for the lower seeded team to compete with.

The Lobos cruised to the 56-41 win, and to the Copper State championship game where they will face second seeded Tuba City who had an even easier time in their semifinal win over an outclassed 2A Pima Roughrider team in the nightcap on Saturday.

Snowflake and Tuba City will play for the Copper Tournament title on Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The game is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m.

The two teams met earlier this season in Tuba City back on Dec.16, in a 61-60 Snowflake win. That is the closest any team has come to the Lobos in their 30 season wins. Their only loss was a 3-point loss to 5A Buena in an early season tournament.
