Holbrook had two of their three competing wrestlers qualify for the state meet at Saturday’s Division II Section III tournament held in Winslow.
Both Ryen Murray and Rosario Carrillo finished third in their respective weight classes to advance to the final tournament of the year.
Murray (114) went 4-1 in her five matches. She defeated Angel Haskan from Monument Valley, Malaysia Etsitty of Chinle, Baylee Peterson from Joseph City and Maci Merritt of Payson. Her only loss was to Brisa Gonzales from Round Valley.
Carrillo (145) went 3-1 claiming third place. Her wins came over Joelyn Kee from Ganado, Laynee Merrill from Round Valley and Laini Hancock from Snowflake. Her loss was to Kylee Balley-Qulroz from Monument Valley.
Riley Patterson (107) also competed in the sectional going 1-2 in three matches. Her win came over Peyton Baker from Winslow. Her two losses were to Brylee Young from Payson and Kara Hooper from Round Valley.
Carrillo and Murry will compete in the state wrestling tournament held Feb. 20 and 21 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
