A small crowd gathered at Desert View Cemetery on Tuesday morning for Winslow’s sixth annual Veterans Memorial Ceremony, hosted by the Winslow Women’s Club. The event offered a quiet moment of reflection as residents came together to honor the men and women who have served in the nation’s armed forces.
Bert Cole led the ceremony, guiding attendees through prayers and remarks. Annette Shipley provided music for the service, offering songs that added a solemn and heartfelt tone. Rudy Montoya served as the flag man, presenting and posting the colors.
Following the ceremony, attendees were invited to share refreshments at the Methodist Church. The Women’s Club has organized the memorial for years, continuing a local tradition of recognizing the service and sacrifice of veterans in the Winslow community.
