Holbrook dropped their regular-season opener at home on Wednesday last week. Hosting Payson, the Birds struggled to contain the Longhorns’ outside hitters, even though freshman Mackenzie Kescoli did an outstanding job from her libero position, getting to some of the hard shots being hit by the Longhorns.
Payson finished the match with 28 kills, with 15 of those coming from two players. The visitors took game one 25-14. Holbrook played a little better in game two but still fell 25-21. Payson dominated the floor in game three, closing out the match with a 25-5 final score.
Holbrook has three matches this week, all on the road. They will play at Alchesay on Tuesday, travel to Ganado on Thursday, and then make the trip to Window Rock on Saturday. Next Tuesday, they return to their home floor when Winslow comes to town.
