On April 30, the 10th seeded Winslow Lady Bulldogs hosted the 23rd seeded Globe Lady Tigers in the play-in game with the winner moving into the state play-off bracket. The game would be decided in four innings. There was plenty of excitement including a couple of defensive pickle plays by the Lady Bulldogs and a double play by the Lady Tigers in preventing a run by the Lady Bulldogs.
In the top of the first inning the Lady Tigers would score 1 run when Nella Franco would score on a fielder’s choice. In the bottom of the first inning the Lady Bulldogs would score 6 runs with a Kyah Wilcox 2 RBI double, a Cassius Tsosie 2 RBI single, a Ara Leonard RBI single and Amatiel Gonzales scoring on an error.
In the bottom of the second inning the Lady Bulldogs would score 2 runs on a Wilcox 2-run home run. In the bottom of the third the Lady Bulldogs would score 7 runs with an Angela Salazar 2 RBI single, a Wilcox 2 RBI single, a Leonard RBI single and a Gigi Vasquez 2 RBI double. In the bottom of the fourth the Lady Bulldogs would get the 1 run needed to clinch the victory with the 10-run rule on a Kameron Keyonnie RBI single. The game ended with a final score of Winslow 16, Globe 1.
Winslow used two pitchers Wilcox with 3 strikeouts and Kendra Ybarra with 1 strikeout. Winslow had 16 runs on 16 hits with no errors.
