Snowflake picked up three easy wins last week as they look ahead to the 3A state playoffs. With just one regular-season game left to play on Monday vs Winslow, the Lobos are in a position to earn a first-round bye as one of the top eight seeds. Their final game with the Bulldogs should determine if they are the seventh seed or the eighth seed in the final rankings.

Playing in Alchesay on Tuesday last week, the Lobos scored 14 first inning runs, putting the game out of reach early. Alchesay managed 4 runs in the fourth, but the final was never in doubt with Snowflake winning 23-4 in five innings.

Snowflake finished with 7 extra base hits, including home runs by Graycee Skousen and Kashlynn Cantrell. Cantrell went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple and a double. Skousen was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. Kloe Burden went 2 for 5 with a double. Brooklyn Lovingood was 2 for 3. Addie Coor went 1 for 3 with a double. Aundrea Abeita was 1 for 4, Kinslee Claridge was 1 for 3, and Brynlee Bryant was 1 for 2.

Burden worked four innings in the circle, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and walking 4 batters. Bryant pitched one inning with a strikeout and 2 walks.

Thursday’s game at Blue Ridge was scoreless through the first two innings before the Lobos pushed 4 runs across in the fourth. They added 1 more in the fifth, 2 in the sixth, and gave themselves some insurance with 4 runs in the seventh. Blue Ridge scored their only 3 runs in the sixth. Snowflake won the game 11-3.

Skousen went 1 for 3 with a home run. Cantrell went 3 for 4. Burden went 1 for 3 with a double. Brittyn Butler was 1 for 3, and Taya Schneider went 1 for 4.

Cantrell pitched all seven innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with 13 strikeouts and only 4 walks.

Snowflake’s final game of the week was an 11-1 six-inning win over visiting Holbrook on Friday afternoon. The Lobos built a 10-0 lead through three innings before the Roadrunners scored their lone run in the fourth frame. Snowflake finished the game off in the sixth inning.

Taya Schneider went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. Brooklyn Lovingood was 3 for 3. Kloe Burden went 2 for 4. Butler was 2 for 2 with a double. Coor went 1 for 3, Abeita 1 for 3, Cantrell 1 for 3, and Skousen 1 for 4.

Cantrell pitched all six innings, giving up just the 1 run on 4 hits with two strikeouts.

Snowflake entered Monday’s game with Winslow with a regular-season mark of 12-4.

If the Lobos finish inside the top eight in the final rankings, they won’t play again until Saturday in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. That game would be played in Snowflake with an 11:00 a.m. start time.
