Kari Lopez currently serves as the Navajo County Treasurer. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University and her Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University. Upon her appointment to treasurer in 2019, Kari implemented several improvements and processes to better serve the taxpayers of Navajo County, including updates to the website to increase user-friendliness and access to information; the creation of an online payment portal for taxpayer convenience; hiring and training additional staff in Holbrook and Show Low to improve customer service and accessibility; and updating/upgrading outdated systems, allowing for faster processing of tax payments particularly during high seasonal times. Kari currently serves on the Arizona Association of Counties Board representing the Arizona treasurers and is current president of the Arizona County Treasurers’ Association. She previously served on Navajo County Personnel Commission Board. Kari is a member of the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers & Finance Officers, Government Investment Officers Association, and Silver Creek Rotary. Navajo County has been my home for 48 years and it has been an incredible privilege to serve you, my neighbors, first as an educator and now as treasurer. For 25 years, I have built my career and reputation on the principles that have guided me throughout my life: utilizing knowledge and experience to serve with accuracy, efficiency, and compassion. I have dedicated eight years to enhancing the accessibility of the Navajo County Treasurer, fostering an open-door policy, personally answering thousands of phone calls, and training my staff on day-to-day operations. In the year ahead, my goal is to implement a new tax and financial system that will transform this office and allow for greater efficiency, and to offer additional online services. I have the knowledge, experience, and qualifications to be treasurer, and I thank you for your continued support.
