As a public educator and mother of school-aged children, I am deeply invested in education. All children in Navajo County deserve to succeed and should be our top priority. The needs of our students are diverse and continue to grow and change. As Navajo County School Superintendent, I will honor, respect, and listen to the needs of each school district in our communities. Every community will have a voice as I create an advisory council that includes parents, students, teachers (public, charter and home school), administrators, and other stakeholders.
I will continue to support teachers by helping them do what they went into the profession to do, teach. When teachers are supported, valued and heard, this support has a ripple effect, helping students succeed. I will help districts provide professional development that is relevant and applicable in the classroom. I believe that all parents have the right to choose where and how their children are educated.
School funds should be guarded and spent appropriately. As Navajo County School Superintendent, I will ensure financial reporting is entirely transparent and above board.
I have a sincere desire to serve the students, teachers, parents, and administrators of Navajo County.
I have always been passionate about education. My husband Hunter Lewis and I, live with our four children in Snowflake. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, I began my teaching career in 2005.
I later decided to become a full-time mother but couldn’t stay out of the classroom. I continued as a substitute teacher, PTO mom, church youth leader, and tutor.
I returned to teaching full-time and earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading, then went on to teach kindergarten, first grade, and Title I reading. I find great joy in serving and supporting students and my fellow teachers.
