The Wildcats football team has gotten solid play from their underclassmen and that young group helped lead them to a 32-18 road win at Mayer on Friday night. However, it was a senior Dylan Salazar who played quarterback and also recovered yet another onside kick for the Wildcats. “We moved some guys around because of injuries and this lineup makes us more competitive,” said head Coach Martin Roes.

Sophomore Heston Miller hauled in a 70-yard touchdown catch and he along with freshman Justin Gardener gave the team major contributions. “The young guys have really been working hard. They’ve been learning and applying what the coaches have installed as the season has progressed, and we are at the point where we can’t start anyone else over them because they have earned their time on the field,” added Roes.

Those youngsters will get tested again this week when they host Williams for homecoming night. The Vikings come in with a 3-3 record. They are also coming in off the heels of a 68-0 loss to Hayden. Joseph City is now 2-4.
