Believe it or not, another school season is upon us. Kids have new backpacks, new clothes and school supplies, teachers have set their lesson plans, and parents will be wondering how their kids grew up so quick as they head out for their first day of school.

Teachers may be tasked with providing our kids with a formal education but they are no replacement for the people at home. The job of teaching kids to dream big, strive for goals, know they are loved and how to be kind to one another comes from the home and from people in their lives. It’s a joint endeavor that we share with teachers, especially these days when the goal of a career is not always that straight path of heading off to college. Listen to your kids and help them find their passion and live it. But also remember they are kids and that those passions can change on a dime, and that’s ok. After all, that provides the most valuable lesson of all — that it’s not the destination, but the journey that has the greatest value of all.
