Obit Johnson Alice

Alice Doreen Johnson (she always went by Doreen) went home to be with her Heavenly Father and her Jesus on Jan. 24, 2024. She was “borned on Fibuary 10,” 1962, in Holbrook, to Milton Dale Johnson and Bethel Marine Cassell. She is survived by her daughter, Kassie Johnson; sister, Amy (Julio) Aguilera; brothers, Rod (Vivian) Johnson, Russ Johnson, Barry (Moon Jung) Johnson and Don (Heather) Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Doreen loved Mexican food and dark chocolate, bluegrass gospel, turtles and frogs, and a really good book on a rainy day. Her favorite season was spring, for she loved flowers and trees and walking through the plush, cool grass in her bare feet. But as much as she loved these things, she loved her family even more. And as much as she loved her family—she loved Heavenly Father and Jesus most of all. Wherever Doreen was, there was laughter. There was also something being done, because Doreen was a get-it-done kind of gal—always looking to make things better and brighter. And she loved getting others around her to help her with her projects. “No work-ee, no eat-ee,” was her motto. She was good at it, too. Before you knew it, you’d be right alongside her, up to your elbows in whatever she had going on at the time. What we will miss most is her beautiful soul. Because for all her fun and sassiness and boundless energy, she had another side to her—a side that understood God and eternity in a way that few do. She longed to go home and be with her Heavenly Father and her Jesus, ready to leave the limits of this life, and move into what we can only imagine is coming next. We love you, Doreen. God not only broke the mold when he made you—you were the only one he made in that mold. Until we meet again, one day, very, very soon.

A memorial service will be held at the LDS church in Holbrook at 9:30 AM, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2.
