The Lady Lobos put together a nice week winning all five games they played. Four of those five were at the Holiday Hoops Payson Invitational where they went unbeaten last weekend.
Just one day prior to competing in the tournament, Snowflake welcomed Round Valley for a regular season contest on Thursday. The Lobos got a big night from Kinzee Brogan, which resulted in a 52-27 Lobo win. Brogan finished with 18 points and eight boards. Kloey Reidhead added 8 points; Haddi Nichols, 6; Ryah Denhalter, 5; Nicole Hipps, 4; Kloah Ulberg, 4; Tayli Hancock, 3; Kenadi Stuart, 2; and Ranell West helped with 2.
The team didn’t have much time to celebrate as they headed to Payson on Friday for two games. The first of which was a 52-18 win over San Tan Foothills. The Sabercats were no match for the Lobos. Ulberg led the way with 8 points. Brogan, Hipps and Hailee Westover each added 7 in the win.
Friday’s second game was another lopsided affair with the Lobos taking care of Mountain View, 55-22. Saturday’s games were a bit more competitive for Snowflake. They defeated Eastmark 46-39 in the first game, then finished off the tournament with a 51-45 win over a pesky Ganado team.
This week the Lobos open 3A east region play when they host Winslow on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs are missing their best player who is out with injury so look for the Lobos to move to 1-0 in region play. On Wednesday, they travel to take on a hot-shooting Tuba City team. The Warriors are coming off a big win over Page and are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment. Wednesday’s game will be the Lobos’ final game before the holiday break. They will return to action on Jan. 4, when they host Pima.
The Lady Lobos are 9-3 overall and 2-1 in powerpoint contests.
