Holbrook’s boys team opened their regular season at home on Aug. 31 last week vs Payson, and despite being outnumbered in total bench players, the Roadrunners battled their way to a 3-7 final decision. Payson built a 4-0 lead through the first half, but Holbrook played tough with limited substitutes and fought their way to a 3-3 second half. Judah Pack scored two of Holbrook’s three goals on penalty kicks in the second half.
The Lady Roadrunners have had to overcome injuries and small numbers like the boys team, and through their first two games they have been outscored by 17 goals. They fell at home to Snowflake on Aug. 28 0-8, then dropped a 0-9 contest at Payson on Aug. 30. Once they get some more available numbers they will be better equipped to face their remaining opponents.
