Head Coach Shawn Layden’s group went 5-4 last season, but the loss of nine seniors from that group will challenge this year’s Wildcat team. Joseph City opens its season this Friday at Mohave Accelerated. The Patriots were dominated by the Wildcats in last season’s opener by a final of 57-0. Expect Joseph City to start the season off well again. The Wildcats’ second game will be at Lincoln Prep on Aug. 25. Joseph City will play at home for the first time this year on Sept. 1, when they welcome in Ray.
The Wildcat volleyball team is under the direction of Charlsye Miller. Last season the Ladies posted a 12-6 regular season record advancing to the 1A state semi-finals before falling to eventual champion Rock Point in a close match.
This year they will participate in a scrimmage hosted by Holbrook on Friday afternoon. Their first regular season action will be on Aug. 30 with a trip to St. Johns. Following that they will play in the Payson Tournament held on Sept. 1 and 2.
