The City of Winslow has embarked on an exciting journey to transform itself into a must-visit destination. With a grant of $500,000 awarded by the Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT), Winslow aims to enhance its marketing imprint and attract more tourists to experience the wonders it has to offer. Teaming up with Free Range Productions for creative services and Ambient Skies for capturing the essence of the region, the city is determined to showcase its hidden gem status to the world.
The grant provided by AOT comes with a requirement for Winslow to match $250,000 of the funds, resulting in a total budget of $750,000. The allocated budget must be utilized and implemented by March of 2024, creating a sense of urgency and motivation for the production crew and the city officials. The focus lies in improving the marketing strategies, designing a new website, developing a captivating logo, and crafting an engaging brand identity for Winslow.
Rebekah Nylander, the Head of Production at Ambient Skies, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, calling it one of the highlights of her recent career. After months of meticulous planning and in-depth conversations with the locals, the production crew is ready to showcase the true essence of Winslow to the world. Nylander firmly believes that Winslow possesses untapped potential, waiting to be discovered by visitors from far and wide.
Ambient Skies, known for its expertise in capturing stunning visuals, was recently in Winslow to capture still shots, videos, and drone footage that would encapsulate the region’s allure. Their mission goes beyond merely highlighting popular attractions like Route 66 and Standin’ on the Corner. The objective is to provide a comprehensive view of the myriad activities and experiences available in and around Winslow, encouraging visitors to extend their stay and explore everything the area has to offer.
One remarkable statistic that has prompted Winslow’s endeavor is the revelation that while it receives nearly one million visitors annually, they spend an average of only 72 minutes in the city. Recognizing this untapped potential, the city intends to leverage the new website and an interactive trip planner to engage potential visitors, enticing them to extend their stay and maximize their economic impact on the town.
In addition to the digital enhancements, Winslow plans to improve wayfinding and signage to assist visitors in finding parking areas and lesser-known but exciting locations around the city. Currently, many of these hidden gems are either poorly signed or not marked at all. By enhancing the accessibility and ease of navigation, Winslow aims to ensure that visitors can fully immerse themselves in the wonders of the city.
With the project underway, Winslow is eager to unveil its transformation and welcome a new wave of visitors. The imagery captured by Ambient Skies has been described as nothing short of incredible, and anticipation is building to share the results with the world. The city officials, production crew, and locals are all excited about the opportunity to shine a light on Winslow’s hidden gems and redefine its place on the tourism map.
As the project progresses, Winslow is poised to become a prime example of a city that successfully rejuvenated its tourism industry through strategic marketing and captivating visual storytelling. With the deadline approaching, the dedicated production crew, led by Nylander, is working tirelessly to bring the vision of Winslow’s transformation to life.
