The Winslow Public Library recently announced its exciting lineup of programs and events for the summer while hosting the Chamber of Commerce’s monthly networking event Good Morning Winslow.

The library’s diverse range of activities cater to people of all ages, from children to adults, providing an opportunity for everyone to explore new interests and engage with the local community. The library offers a variety of programs for children, including the Little Chefs cooking class, the Junior Gardening program, and the Art Mediums program, which nurture creativity and appreciation for nature. Adults can participate in book clubs, cooking classes, and yoga and journaling sessions, promoting mindfulness and self-reflection. Librarian Brandee Leary summed it up by saying, “We have planned something almost for every day of the summer and every single event we offer is completely free to anyone.”

Furthermore, during the event, Leary spoke about the library’s fundraiser with Winslow High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA), where the FFA has made a metal tree sculpture. Donators can purchase a leaf for $300, and it will be engraved with their name and become part of the sculpture. The tree currently sits outside the library but will move when they relocate to the new building where it will remain permanently to pay homage to the people who supported the much-needed upgrades.

The Winslow Library is more than just a place for reading and learning; it serves as a community hub for events and activities, and the library is constantly looking for ways to engage with the community. In addition to the exciting programs, the Summer Reading Program also offers big prizes for both children and adults. Children can win swimming passes for the city pool, tickets to Bearizona, and tickets to the Odysea aquarium in Phoenix. Adults have the chance to win several prizes as well including a dinner for two at La Posada’s Turquoise Room.

The library also offers various services, such as friendly, competent service, preschool story time on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) at 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and art mediums from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Girl Scout House. Little Chefs is held at 10:30 a.m. on the last Tuesday of each month, and Young Chefs is held 1 to 3 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the Senior Center. Apart from the events the library hosts, it also has a litany of different items that are rentable or accessible to residents through the library. Patrons can rent audiobooks, movies and TV shows physically on DVDs or you can even stream them directly to any device using your library card number.

The Winslow Library’s commitment to promoting community engagement is evident in the Summer Program and the variety of services they offer. The library is always coming up with new ways to serve the community better, and soon they will announce the final plans for the new library, which will be built next door to the Chamber of Commerce. The new library will be a state-of-the-art facility that will provide residents and visitors with an even more exciting and engaging experience.
