A busy week for the Lady Roadrunners resulted in three wins and one loss.
Holbrook started the week with a 13-12 home-field loss to Show Low. The Cougars scored eight first-inning runs then withstood a furious Holbrook rally in the bottom of the seventh to win the game by one. The Cougars led 13-7 going into the final inning. Holbrook produced five runs in the home half of the seventh before grounding out with a runner on base to end the game.

Hosting Winslow on Thursday Holbrook prevailed by a single run, but it was a closer game than what it appeared it would be. Holbrook started well holding a 7-5 lead after two innings. They extended that margin to 15-5 through four innings. Looking for a 10-run rule game in the fifth, the opposite happened. Winslow had a tremendous one-out rally which resulted in a 10-run inning tying the game at 15-15 going into the sixth. In the top of the sixth another run gave the Bulldogs a temporary one-run lead. Having given up the large lead Holbrook was rattled but calmed down enough to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to get a two-run lead. Winslow scored once in the top of the seventh but the game ended with Holbrook clinging to an 18-17 final outcome.
Baldonado went 3 for 5 with a pair of home runs. Tyler was 3 for 5, with a single home run. Macy Moore went 4 for 4, with two doubles. Sarah Slim was 2 for 4. Paschal went 1 for 3, with a double. Madison Moore was 2 for 5. Patterson went 4 for 5, with a double. Reidhead was 2 for 5.
On Friday Holbrook made a long trip to Kayenta where they soundly defeated the Mustangs 14-2 in five innings. Holbrook broke a 1-1 tie with six runs in the third. They added another seven in the fifth to win the game.
Madison Moore went 5 for 5, with two doubles. Paschal went 2 for 4, with a double. Tyler was 1 for 4, with a home run. Slim went 1 for 1, with a home run. Serna was 2 for 3. Baldonado was 3 for 4, as was Laraina Sangster.
Patterson pitched all five innings, giving up two runs on three hits with six strikeouts.
Holbrook enters this week with an overall record of 15-7. They were ranked near the top 10 heading into this week’s action. Another four-game week lies ahead with all four being on the road. Tuesday they will be in Show Low, Wednesday is a trip to Snowflake, and Thursday will be a drive to Payson. Following one day off they will travel to Williams on Saturday. Holbrook will close out the regular season at home on Monday when they host Blue Ridge.
If the team can finish eighth or higher in power points, they would be able to host a first-round state game on April 29. If they finish ninth or lower, they will more than likely at least host a 3A play-in game on April 26. Holbrook’s regular season record is 9-3 heading into this week’s four-game schedule.
