The City of Winslow’s Arts Council recently held its annual Christmas lights contest over the past couple of weeks. This is the council’s third year holding this event and it has been a great way to get people into the holiday spirit with some wholesome competition.
Arts Council President Monique Chavez said, “I remember having it in 2019, but we chose to keep it going through the pandemic because it was such a great socially distant event we could host.” There were cash prizes for first, second and third, as well as an additional award for the council’s favorite, which received $250 worth of window tinting from Harold’s House of Tint. The contest was open to all homes in Winslow and had around 15-20 entries. The top three were chosen by the public via Facebook, where the homes with the top three amount of “likes” would take home the prizes.
First place and $100 went to 2045 Easy Street, second place and $75 went to 1820 Iron Horse Drive, third place and $50 went to 622 N. Williamson Ave. The award for Art Council’s Favorite went to 809 N. Warren Ave.
