Both Lobo soccer teams are advancing to the playoffs. The boys team won their final two regular season matches last week, earning a 6-1 home-field win over Round Valley on Monday, followed by an 8-0 road win at Round Valley on Thursday last week. Those two wins allowed them to finish their regular season with an overall record of 7-3-2.

They finished the season ranked fifth in power points and now enter the eight-team state playoff bracket as the fifth overall seed. They will play at No. 4 Blue Ridge on Tuesday this week. With a win, they would take on either No. 1 Chino Valley or No. 8 St. Augustine in the semifinal match on Thursday. The championship match will be played on Saturday at Westwood High School. The final top eight in the rankings were Chino Valley No. 1, Sedona No. 2, Show Low No. 3, Blue Ridge No. 4, Snowflake No. 5, Northland Prep No. 6, Camp Verde No. 7 and St. Augustine No. 8.

The Lady Lobos are also headed to the postseason playoffs with their overall record of 8-2-2. Snowflake finished the regular season last week with a tie and a win. Tuesday they were in St. Johns where they battled the Lady Redskins to a 1-1 tie. Playing their final match in Camp Verde on Thursday they came home with a 5-0 win.

By virtue of winning their region the Lobos earned a first-round bye as the overall second seed in the four team bracket. Northland Prep is the top seed. Chino Valley is No. 3, St. Johns No. 6. Chino Valley and Blue Ridge will face off in one play-in game while Show Low and St. Johns will match up in the other play-in game. The winners of those two will join Snowflake and Northland Prep in the state semi-final matches held at the site of the higher seed on Thursday this week. The championship match will be played on Saturday at Westwood High School.
