The Lady Roadrunner soccer team split two matches played during homecoming week. Hosting Show Low on Tuesday evening they fell to the Cougars 6-1. After taking part in numerous activities throughout the week at the high school, the ladies traveled to Page early Saturday morning and came away with a hard fought 1-0 win. Kelly Hill scored the game’s only goal in the first 10 minutes of the match.
With the split, Holbrook improved to 3-7 in the regular season. They have just two matches left and will more than likely need to win both to have an outside shot at playing in the post season. When the new power rankings are released on Tuesday, they will more than likely still be in either eighth or ninth position. They need to climb into at least sixth to extend their season.
This week they will travel to Round Valley on Thursday, then will host Blue Ridge for their final game on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The boys team is currently 3-5-1 on the season. They entered this week ranked 16th and will be on the outside looking in when the postseason begins. During homecoming week they cruised past visiting St. Michael on Wednesday night 8-0 in a shortened game. Holbrook has three games left on their schedule. After hosting Round Valley for senior night on Wednesday this week, they will travel to Blue Ridge on Oct. 18, then wrap up their season at Sedona on Oct. 21.
